The winners in each of the EFORT Free Awards Orthopaedics of the 18 th EFORT Congress Vienna 2017 are: Out of the best-rated free papers, six papers per category "trauma" and "orthopaedics" have competed for the EFORT Free paper Award Trauma and the EFORT Free Paper Award Orthopaedics during the respective Free paper Award sessions at the congress. We strongly believe that the EFORT Awards annual competition contributes to engage more attendees in regards to the development of the scientific content and to create a research culture within the O&T community. On top of international recognition by peers, award winners also receive a financial reward.Īmong 30 pre-selected competing posters accepted for presentation within the Virtual EFORT Congress scientific programme, the 10 best-rated submissions receive the Jacques Duparc Award, which includes a financial grant and a certificate to acknowledge the work of each co-author having contributed to the abstract content. Among all submitted presentations, the EFORT Award Committee has chosen three winners in each of the two categories: gold, silver and bronze. The 40 best-rated free papers, 20 each in orthopaedics and trauma, were given the option of competing for the EFORT Free Paper Award. This latter award was created in memory of Professor Michael Freeman, one of the founding fathers of EFORT and EFORT President 1994 to 1995, to honor his lifetime contribution to both the European and the International Orthopaedic Community after he passed away in September 2017.

Traditionally, EFORT awards every year the Free Paper and Jacques Duparc (poster) Awards, as well as the the Michael Freeman Award since 2018. The EFORT Congress Scientific Awards are selected among the many high-quality abstracts submitted to the congress. In this regard the EFORT congress can always rely on the contributions of experts all over Europe and even worldwide. We look forward to meeting you in the culturally rich city of Vienna for the 18th EFORT Congress in 2017.A congress is always as good as its presentations are. We also encourage you to submit abstracts, the presentation of which forms a major and important part of the meeting. The scientific programme would, however, be incomplete without your participation and we sincerely hope that you will attend the Vienna Congress 2017. Highlights of the Congress also include, among many others, e-health applications in orthopaedic research, hip trauma and sport, less frequent shoulder sport injuries, treatment of chronic bone infection, shoulder instability management and functional outcomes after UKA and TKA. The main theme of the Congress in Vienna will be “ Sports activities and orthopaedic practice”. Traditionally, the Michael Freeman and Erwin Morscher Honorary Lectures will be delivered by two highly distinguished orthopaedic surgeons.

The residents may also be attracted to Easy Evidence Update, which aim is to provide educational material in the form of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enhance professional practice. The format of the meeting is designed to encourage interactions among participants, with both the Interactive Expert Exchange and Complex Case Discussion sessions.

The annual meeting of EFORT is the largest platform for European Orthopaedics to exchange knowledge and experience within Europe but also with colleagues from other parts of the world.įollowing the success of our previous congresses, the scientific programme will focus on Symposia and Instructional Lectures given by distinguished speakers from all over Europe, as well as on abstract submissions from all over the world.
